3-D micro photo-fabrication is playing a large role
in the development of structures
which utilize the "function of shape."

At the micrometer scale where electromagnetism and light are manipulated, the shape of a structure itself provides some type of function, and there are a large number of devices that make use of this phenomenon. When developing these shapes, there is no more convenient tool than 3-D micro photo-fabrication.
